Job summary

St. Mary School in Montrose, CO is seeking a part-time Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. The role requires afternoon and evening hours and physical stamina to perform cleaning duties across multiple facilities.

Duties include cleaning classrooms, offices, gym and restrooms; operating cleaning equipment; and restocking supplies while ensuring security at shift end. A background check and trainings are required prior to hire.

Qualifications

• Affirmation of Catholic ministry familiarity is optional but asset.

Responsibilities

The Custodian is responsible for ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff and visitors. This is a part-time position at St. Mary School.

Requirements:

• Able to work afternoon and evening hours.
• Cleans assigned facilities and/or grounds (e.g. classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
• Cleans, sweeps, mops, buffs and polishes floors of hallways and classrooms
• Helps maintain safety issues and/or proper maintenance of facilities and equipment.
• Performs functions that require the use of machines, equipment, and tools for the purpose of maintaining a clean and sanitized building environment.
• Performs minor, job-related, maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture and fixtures (e.g. change vacuum cleaner belts, bags, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper functioning and usability of items.
• Performs routine summer and break maintenance (e.g. strip/wax floors, moves furniture, painting, etc.) for the purpose of completing and/or facilitating summer and break cleaning and maintenance.
• Replenishes classroom and restroom supplies for the purpose of ensuring adequate quantities for daily use.
• Secures facilities and grounds (e.g. doors, lights, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and/or potential liability.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Lift at least 50 pounds, climb and work off a 6' ladder, able to walk/stand throughout the day.

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with the Catholic understanding of ministry is an asset
