Job summary

T. C. Miller Academy in Lynchburg, Virginia seeks a dedicated Custodian to maintain clean, safe school spaces. You will disinfect and perform light maintenance in classrooms, offices, and libraries under supervision of the Building Administrator. This 12-month role offers full benefits and stability.

The successful candidate will follow safety guidelines, work independently or with a team, and be prepared to report during emergencies as essential personnel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Previous cleaning experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Able to read and follow cleaning chemical labels.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, dust and disinfect assigned areas as needed.
• Clean classrooms, offices, and libraries as directed.
• Empty trash and maintain cleanliness of assigned spaces.

FLSA Status: Non-exempt Site/Location: T. C. MillerAcademy Reports to: Building Administrator Date: 08/20/2026 POSITION SUMMARY

Maintain clean, safe, sanitary schools including, but not limited to disinfecting and light maintenance of assigned school spaces. Performs the general cleaning of all classrooms, office spaces and libraries as directed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Sweeps, mops (dust/wet), dusts, and disinfects areas regularly as needed.
• Cleans classrooms, offices, libraries as assigned.
• Picks up paper and other debris, empties and cleans trash receptacles in assigned areas.
• Vacuums and operates other assigned equipment as assigned.
• Performs related work as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
