Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking an Environmental Services Worker at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, MA. The role involves cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, corridors, and designated areas, including terminal cleaning in high‑intensity units, utilizing UV‑C disinfection technology.

The position requires a GED or HiSET (preferred but not required) and supports a 16‑hour weekly schedule on the 1st shift.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and customers using scripting while interacting.
• Maintain flexibility, organization and prioritization of work.
• Collaborate with co-workers and unit staff in a team environment.
• Maintain health, safety and attendance requirements.
• Adhere to system and department policies and applicable laws/regulations.
• Perform daily responsibilities with minimal supervision; follow duty lists.
• Carry out other departmental duties as required.
• Follow procedure guidelines and standard precautions for contaminated equipment; use PPE.
• Conduct daily terminal cleaning and maintain log books; use UV-C disinfection technology.
• Clean and disinfect all surfaces, equipment and furniture.
• Properly remove municipal waste, regulated medical waste, soiled linen, and recyclables.
• Daily cleaning of floors, baseboards, corners and edges; change cubicle curtains as needed.
• Maintain pace in high intensity units.
• Break down, clean and disinfect various equipment such as Operating Tables.
• Move rolling stock like stretchers and beds as needed.

Performs a variety of Environmental Services duties under the direction of leadership. Duties will involve complete cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, corridors, public rooms, offices, other designated areas as needed and the changing of cubicle curtains.

Responsible for the daily cleaning, room turnover cleaning and terminal cleaning of specialty areas including but not limited to: Emergency Department, Operating Rooms, LDRP, NICU, CCN, WETU.

Job Responsibilities:

• 1)High level of interpersonal and customer service skills. Responsible for greeting and utilizing scripting whenever interacting with patients and customers.

• **9)**Responsible for conducting daily terminal cleaning, maintaining all respective log books and use of UV-C disinfection technology.
• **10)**Responsible for the cleaning and disinfection of all horizontal and vertical surfaces, equipment and furniture.
• **11)**Responsible for the proper removal of municipal soild waste, regulated medical waste, soiled linen, and recyclables.
• **12)**Responsible for high and low dusting, applying finish or polish to wood & steel surfaces.
• **13)**Responsible for daily cleaning of floors, baseboards, corners and edges.
• **14)**Responsible for changing cubicle curtains as needed.
• **15)**Must be able to maintain pace in high intensity units.
• **16)**Must be able to break down, clean and disinfect various specialty equipment such as Operating Tables.
• **17)**Responsible for moving rolling stock such as stretchers and beds as needed.

Typical a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
