Job summary

Legends Global seeks a dedicated Custodian to maintain DeVos Place event spaces before, during, and after events, ensuring a clean, safe environment for guests. This on-site role requires energy, reliability, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities include floor care, carpet cleaning, restroom sanitation, waste disposal, and general maintenance. Nights, weekends, and holidays may be required; benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, vacation, and 401k.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in large facilities with varied flooring preferred.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and proper chemical handling preferred.

• Operate floor buffers and polishers to maintain shine and longevity.
• Vacuum carpets daily and perform deep cleaning as needed.
• Respond quickly to spills and stains to prevent damage.
• Disinfect restroom floors and maintain sanitary conditions.
• Empty trash and recycling and keep disposal areas clean.
• Dust baseboards, vents, and low surfaces; perform other duties as needed.

THE ROLE

Maintaining event space floors before, during, and after events, ensuring a clean and safe environment for guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Regularly sweep and mop hard floors to remove dust, dirt, and spills, ensuring a clean and safe environment
• Operate floor buffers and polishers to maintain the shine and longevity of flooring material
• Vacuum carpets daily and perform deep cleaning, such as shampooing and steam extraction, to remove stains and embedded dirt
• Quickly respond to spills and stains on floors to prevent accidents and permanent damage
• Thoroughly clean and disinfect restroom floors, ensuring they remain dry, slip-free, and hygienic
• Empty trash and recycling bins while ensuring floors around disposal areas remain clean and odor-free
• Dust and wipe down baseboards, vents, and low surfaces to prevent buildup that can affectfloor cleanliness.
• Other custodial duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in larger facilities with multiple types of floors preferred.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations, proper chemical handling, and experience operating floor care equipment (e.g., auto scrubbers, burnishers, carpet extractors) preferred.

Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning and custodial methods and techniques including the use of chemicals and equipment.
• Demonstrate knowledge of basic tools.
• Previous custodial experience in a similar facility preferred.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Able to do minor repairs and maintenance of facility equipment such as ride on scrubbers, carpet cleaning equipment and vacuums.
• Must be able to train and monitor part staff while completing other duties.
