The University of Dubuque is seeking a dependable Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across campus facilities. This position supports daily operations by ensuring classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas are kept to high standards.

You will work well independently or as part of a team and contribute to the University’s mission. Ideal candidates are self-motivated, able to lift up to 40 lbs, and comfortable standing or walking for long periods.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Driver's license is preferred.
• Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for long periods.

The University of Dubuque is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across campus facilities. This position plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the University by ensuring classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas are cleaned and maintained to high standards. Successful candidates will be self-motivated, able to work both independently and as part of a team and committed to supporting the mission of the University.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Maintain cleanliness of campus buildings, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas
• Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors to ensure a safe and sanitary environment
• Deep clean bathrooms- showers, stools, tile, etc.
• Wash walls and windows
• Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal
• Assist with setup and teardown for campus events, including moving furniture, equipment, and supplies
• Operate floor and carpet machines
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University’s Mission

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to follow checklists and complete assigned tasks without close supervision
• Works well independently and as part of a team
• Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a clean, safe environment
• Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel
• Ability to climb a 6’ ladder
• Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.
• Must be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time

Qualifications:

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
• Driver’s license preferred

Current Openings (subject to change):

• Friday – Monday 5:00 am – 3:30 pm
• Monday – Friday 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm
• Monday – Friday 5:00 am – 1:30 pm

Includes a $0.50 per hour shift differential for 2nd shift

• Four weeks of vacation with one week available after 90 days of employment
