Job summary

Gordon Food Service is seeking a custodian for our Concord distribution center. Starting pay is $18.60 per hour with a $1.00 second-shift premium. Work Sunday–Thursday evenings with overtime as needed; health benefits and wellness programs are included.

You will maintain clean, orderly buildings and support a safe, efficient warehouse operation. No prior experience required; training provided. Must be at least 18 years old and able to work holidays, weekends, and extreme temperatures in the DC

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent education preferred.
• Candidates must be able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) certification is required after hire.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, scrubs and vacuums floors and surfaces.
• Empties trash and maintains cleanliness of distribution center.
• Performs inspections of equipment and reports findings.
• Mows lawn, trims shrubbery and maintains landscaping as needed.
• Operates powered industrial vehicles and cleaning equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Gordon Food Service takes pride in delivering seamless order processing and delivery to our customers, and our warehouse staff is the backbone of our success. As a custodian, you'll support our team by maintaining the buildings to ensure clean, organized operations. You will also sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, empty the trash, clear snow, and maintain the landscaping. You can expect to work in extreme temperatures (-25F to 100F) in the distribution center. There’s no experience required - we'll train you how to get the job done! Does this look like you? You must be 18 years of age or older. Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed - holidays are very important to our customers! We have frozen products - your ability to work in extreme cold or hot conditions (-25F to 100F) is required while you’re here. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English (to read labels, pick lists, scanners, signage, company website information related to benefits, updates, complete paperwork, and follow verbal instructions). Position Summary

Maintains buildings in clean and orderly condition.

Essential Functions

• Sweeps, mops, scrubs and vacuums; may include hallways, stairs and office space within the distribution center.
• Empties trash and garbage containers and cleans snow and debris from walkways.
• Performs inspections of equipment and reports findings.
• Mows lawn, trims shrubbery and cultivates flower.
• May remove, charge, transport, and install hi-lo (forklift) batteries in the warehouse.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or outside the warehouse), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during warehouse operations.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English
• Ability to read and understand information on a Material Safety Data Sheet, and adhere to safety regulations and procedures
• Ability to work independently and within team environment
• Must be able to operate powered industrial vehicle (PIV), vacuum cleaner, lawn mower, gardening tools and other various types of equipment.
• Must have basic computer skills utilizing windows based software.
