Job summary

CENTRAL WEST VIRGINIA REGIONAL AIRPORT is seeking a Building Maintenance worker in Charleston, WV for full-time, manual labor. Primary duties include cleaning and maintaining airport buildings, trash removal, floor care, restroom sanitation, and event setup/teardown.

Requirements include high school or equivalent, WV Driver's License (upon hire), and ability to pass background and drug checks. Will perform various custodial tasks and operate cleaning equipment in diverse conditions.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Incumbents may be required to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

POSITION SUMMARY

Clean and maintain a wide variety of airport buildings and facilities; perform a variety of custodial tasks such as trash removal, sweeping, mopping and dusting; assist with set up and break down of various rooms, sites and special events and perform a variety of duties related to assigned area of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.
• Performs routine maintenance activities.
• Performs heavy cleaning duties.
• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors.
• Gathers and empties trash.
• Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities.
• Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment.
• Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.
• Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
• Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Cleans and polishes fixtures and furniture.
• Shampoos or steam-cleans carpets and rugs.
• Notifies Supervisor regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge of basic custodial practices, such as general cleaning and maintenance techniques. Knowledge of the safe use of cleaning chemicals and agents as well as occupational hazards and standard safety practices. Operate a variety of custodial equipment in a safe and effective manner. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

QUALIFICATIONS

Physical Requirements:

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate amounts of weight; to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Educational Requirements:

High school graduation or equivalent.

Certifications, Licenses Required:

Upon Hire- West Virginia State Driver's License. Must Acquire-Basic Airport Safety and Operations Specialist Training.

Working Conditions:

Subject to a variety of extreme weather conditions; susceptible to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards associated with equipment and maintenance duties; subject to constant and extreme noise, poor lighting, and fumes.

Other Requirements:

Must pass pre-employment drug testing and submit to periodic testing required by applicable laws. Must pass ten-year criminal history background check as required by the Transportation Security Administration. Must pass recurring SIDA with Escort; AFDQ; Fire Warden; Fire Safety; Active Shooter; Stormwater Training; Vehicle Search and ID Verification Training. Subject to work schedule with varying days off. Available for recall during non-duty hours for emergencies, snow removal or other related duties.
