Job summary

FRANKLIN COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM seeks a full-time Custodian to maintain clean, safe library facilities in Chambersburg, PA. Responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, and setup/breakdown of furniture for programs and events.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, welcoming environment for library users.
• Collaborative attitude and respectful communication skills when working with staff and the public.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior custodial experience in public or community facilities is a plus.
• Ability to pass any required background checks in accordance with applicable laws and library policies.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and remove trash in public areas, restrooms, offices and meeting rooms.

Role Description

The Custodian is a full-time, on-site role based at FRANKLIN COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM in Chambersburg, PA. This position is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and orderly library facilities, including public areas, restrooms, offices, and meeting rooms. Day-to-day tasks include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, and basic restroom sanitation, as well as setting up and breaking down furniture and equipment for library programs and events. The Custodian monitors building conditions, reports maintenance needs, and may perform minor repairs under supervision.
