Job summary

BMW/MINI of Ontario in Anaheim, CA is seeking a Custodian to maintain a safe, clean, and pleasant environment for employees and customers. You will perform cleaning, basic maintenance, litter removal, and ensure compliance with safety policies.

This full-time role includes evening/weekend hours, PPE usage, and assistance to technicians. A high school diploma or equivalent and a clean driving record are preferred.

Job description

Summary/Objective

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and pleasant environment for the dealership employees and customers in accordance with company policies.

Essential Functions

• Cleans work areas, empties trash, and collects scrap and used materials to process in accordance with company policy and local, state, and federal regulations
• Performs routine building maintenance in such a manner as to minimize interruption of customers or employees
• Washes windows, glass doors and glass panels throughout service, sales, and customer areas. Arranges for contract window cleaning per direction and supervise the work of the contract window cleaning.
• Sweeps, vacuums, and mops floor on schedule: arranged for buffing or waxing and carpet cleaning per scheduled floor maintenance program
• Cleans all signs, posters, service signs, mirrors, fans, and vending machines
• Maintains hot beverage areas by cleaning counter surfaces and restocking coffee and related supplies
• Cleans bathrooms and restocks paper supplies as needed
• Notifies supervisor of required materials and supplies to perform duties
• Cleans driveway and sidewalks, removing snow and debris as necessary
• Empties and cleans lunchroom refrigerator once a week
• Washes shop truck, interior and exterior
• Cleans forklift and power equipment
• Empties and cleans all trash receptacles, interior and exterior
• Removes all debris from dealership
• Maintains yard equipment and cleaning supplies
• Cleans oil storage tanks according to procedure
• Drains and disposes of used oil filters properly
• Removes and disposes of scrap materials as directed
• Assists Technicians with oil and water spills and with emptying drain tubs
• Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer and in accordance with company policies
• Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to working with hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management immediately
• Communicates with Supervisor if additional work is needed
• Follows all attendance and punctuality standards with adherences to timekeeping standards
• Follows the Company Code of Business Ethics and Conduct
• Understands and follow all work rules and procedures and follows lawful directions from Supervisors
• Upholds the company's non-disclosure and confidentiality policies and agreements
• Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with company policy
• Attends pertinent training on request

Work Environment/ Physical Demands

Will primarily work in an automotive shop environment. Workspace is covered but may involve various weather conditions such as heat and cold as well as safety hazards due to the nature of work. May experience loud noise on a regular basis.

Medium/Heavy Work---Will lift over 50 pounds with assistance device required and/or frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to or over 35 pounds with assistance device available as needed.

This position will require the employee to be standing for prolonged periods of time
