Job summary

Obsolete Site is seeking a diligent cleaning assistant to maintain cleanliness in rooms, corridors, stairways and other areas. The role requires operating powered cleaning equipment, restocking supplies, and following safety and procedural guidelines daily.

The candidate should be able to read signs, follow instructions, and communicate clearly in writing and speech. Physical stamina is required for lifting and moving items as needed.

Job description

Duties

• Cleans rooms, corridors, stairways, and other areas. Sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, strips and polishes using light and heavy-duty powered equipment. Operates industrial equipment to clean rugs, drapes, etc.
• Performs routine maintenance of equipment. Cleans, disinfects and deodorizes toilet facilities. Cleans, and dust assigned areas. Empties trash. May make beds and changes linen.
• Wash walls, windows, blinds and ceiling fixtures using ladders, scaffolds and safety belt. Moves heavy furniture. Maintains stock of room and cleaning supplies to perform assigned duties.
• Must have the ability to follow instructions and read signs. Must have a basic knowledge of common cleaning solvents, cleaning tools, and equipment. Must know the proper uses of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Conditions of employment

• Satisfactory completion of all pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
• Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
• Must meet physical requirements of the position.

Allowances and Differentials

• This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
• Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
