Job summary

Lucas County in Ohio is seeking a dedicated custodial worker to perform cleaning and maintenance in county buildings under supervision. Responsibilities include cleaning offices, bathrooms, floors, and common areas, using approved cleaners and equipment; while adhering to safety procedures and county policies.

Under supervision from the Facilities Custodial and Grounds Supervisor, you will be responsible for cleaning, restocking supplies, and performing custodial duties at multiple county

Qualifications

• Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures; safety practices and procedures; equipment, cleaning products and other materials used in custodial services; methods for cleaning.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively in a tactful and courteous manner with a variety of people, including employees, and the public.
• Ability to count whole numbers; read signs and labels; communicate with supervisor; follow oral and written instructions; perform light manual labor, lifting up to 30lbs.

Responsibilities

• Dust blinds, polish furniture including telephones; workspace areas.
• Sweep and mop floors daily; vacuum all carpeted areas daily.
• Empty wastebaskets, replace liners, and wash wastebaskets as needed.
• Dust and clean all books, bookcases and bookshelves; disinfect door handles and phones.
• Replace tissues, paper towels and sanitary napkins as needed; fill soap dispensers.
• Clean bathrooms and related fixtures; responsible for custodial duties at other County buildings within control.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Job description

Under supervision from the Facilities Custodial and Grounds Supervisor or maintenance supervisor, provides all necessary custodial services to maintain a clean and healthy environment within and around county buildings.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Cleans offices, including, but not limited to:

Dust blinds; dust and polish all furniture, including telephones,

Sweep and mop floors daily; vacuum all carpeted areas, daily

Empty wastebaskets and replace liners, as needed, and wash wastebaskets, as

Dust and clean all books, bookcases and bookshelves

Disinfect door handles and phones

Replace tissues, paper towels and sanitary napkins as needed

Fill soap dispensers as needed

Clean all fixtures, mirrors and partitions, empty wastebaskets and replace liners

Sweep and mop floors

Clean walls

Calculators, desklamps and partitions needed

Clean bathrooms, including, but not limited to:

Responsible to perform custodial duties at all other County owned buildings that are within the control and responsibility of the Lucas County Commissioners.

Additional duties as assigned.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbent may be exposed to cleaning chemicals and fumes. Incumbent may also periodically work under unsanitary conditions
