Job summary

Montgomery County is seeking a custodial worker to perform full-range cleaning duties across county facilities, including heavy floor care equipment operation and routine maintenance. Responsibilities include cleaning floors, buffing, stripping, waxing, and sanitizing restrooms, as well as waste management and room security.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning equipment and procedures.
• Equivalency: 8th grade with one heavy equipment course or equivalent evidence of minimum class requirements.

Responsibilities

Job description

Full performance level in the custodial occupation requiring considerable knowledge of cleaning equipment and procedures; under direction, cleans County facilities, including the operation of heavy floor care equipment.

• Cleans floors, including buffing, stripping, waxing.
• Cleans and dusts rooms and furniture, cleans restrooms, elevators and showers.
• Collects trash and deposits at compactor or dumpster; operates compactor or bailer.
• Sprays rooms to exterminate insects.
• Stocks supplies and maintains security of supplies.
• Checks security of buildings and rooms; opens building; locks doors.
• Performs general clean-up tasks around the grounds.
• Moves furniture, boxes or other materials.

(Performs Related Duties As Required)

Equivalent to eighth school grade plus one (1) course in the operation of heavy equipment; OR alternative, equivalent evidence of the Minimum Class Requirements.
