Job summary

University of Florida is seeking a Custodial Worker I to clean and maintain multiple campus facilities, including halls, offices, classrooms, restrooms, and more. The role requires daily cleaning, floor care, glass cleaning, waste handling, and adherence to university policies.

The position is essential personnel with a 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM shift and a 40-hour work week. Minimum requirement is completion of ninth grade; a high school diploma and two years of commercial custodial experience are

Qualifications

• Completion of ninth grade.
• High school diploma and two years of commercial custodial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains all floors and floor coverings, including vacuuming, shampooing, stripping, sealing and waxing.
• Cleans entrances, walkways, steps, patios, and concourses.
• Spot cleans and cleans interior and exterior glass, cleans ceiling lights and Venetian blinds.
• Empties and cleans waste cans, trashcans, recycle bins, water fountains and doormats.
• Complete training prescribed by Facilities Services Training and Education Department and University Compliance Training.
• Follow Building Services SOPs and Facilities Services policies and directives.

Cleans and maintains on a daily basis all halls, offices, shops, classrooms, restrooms, conference rooms, labs, gym areas, locker rooms, elevators which includes sweeping, dusting, dust-mopping, wet mopping, spot-mopping, reconditioning of floors and spot washing and cleaning of walls, doors, and partitions.

• Cleans and maintains all floors and floor coverings which includes regular duties such as vacuuming, shampooing, striping, sealing and waxing.
• Cleans all entrances, entrances walks, steps, patios, and concourses.
• Spot cleans and cleans all exterior and interior glass surfaces of all assigned buildings; cleans ceiling lights and Venetian blinds.
• Empties and cleans all waste cans, trashcans, recycle bins, water fountains and doormats.
• Required to complete training prescribed by Facilities Services Training and Education Department, and the University’s Compliance Training.
• Required to follow and adhere to all Building Services Standard Operating Procedures, and Facilities Services Policies and Directives.

Classification Minimum Requirements

Completion of ninth grade.

Normal Work Schedule

• 5:00AM to 1:30PM (Monday through Friday).
• Workdays and shift times may vary in response to customer needs for special event coverage and/or departmental needs. Some overtime may be required.
• Total hours per week is 40.
• Management retains the right and discretion to modify schedules, building assignments, shifts and/or days for operational purposes.
• Position is considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy.

Expected Salary

$15.00 Hourly

Required Qualifications

• Completion of ninth grade.

Preferred

• High school diploma and two (2) years of commercial custodial experience.
