Job summary

University of Florida is seeking a Custodial Worker I to maintain daily cleanliness of halls, offices, classrooms, restrooms, labs, gyms, and other facilities on campus. The role runs 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week.

Some overtime may be required to cover events, with essential personnel status. Starting pay is $15.00 per hour, with training per Facilities Services and University compliance requirements; veteran's preference is available to eligible

Qualifications

• Completion of ninth grade.
• High school diploma and two years of commercial custodial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains halls, offices, classrooms, restrooms, conference rooms, labs, gym areas, locker rooms, and elevators daily.
• Cleans floors and floor coverings: vacuuming, shampooing, striping, sealing, waxing.
• Cleans entrances, walks, stairs, patios, and concourses.
• Spot cleans and cleans interior/exterior glass surfaces; cleans ceiling lights and Venetian blinds.
• Empties and cleans waste cans, trashcans, recycling bins, water fountains, doormats.
• Completes training prescribed by Facilities Services Training and Education Department and University Compliance Training.
• Follows Building Services SOPs and Facilities Services policies and directives.

Job Description

• Cleans and maintains on a daily basis all halls, offices, shops, classrooms, restrooms, conference rooms, labs, gym areas, locker rooms, elevators which includes sweeping, dusting, dust-mopping, wet mopping, spot-mopping, reconditioning of floors and spot washing and cleaning of walls, doors, and partitions
• Cleans and maintains all floors and floor coverings which includes regular duties such as vacuuming, shampooing, striping, sealing and waxing
• Cleans all entrances, entrances walks, steps, patios, and concourses
• Spot cleans and cleans all exterior and interior glass surfaces of all assigned buildings; cleans ceiling lights and Venetian blinds
• Empties and cleans all waste cans, trashcans, recycle bins, water fountains and doormats
• Required to complete training prescribed by Facilities Services Training and Education Department, and the University’s Compliance Training.
• Required to follow and adhere to all Building Services Standard Operating Procedures, and Facilities Services Policies and Directives.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:

5:00AM to 1:30PM (Monday through Friday).

Workdays and shift times may vary in response to customer needs for special event coverage and/or departmental needs. Some overtime may be required.

Total hours per week is 40.

Management retains the right and discretion to modify schedules, building assignments, shifts and/or days for operational purposes.

Position is considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy.

Expected Salary

$15.00 Hourly
