Job summary

Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania - Bloomsburg is hiring a Custodial Worker 1 Pool for the Mansfield campus. The role is 45% FTE, up to 16 hours per week, and temporary/part-time. The incumbent provides custodial care and campus cleanliness as an essential personnel role.

Responsibilities include cleaning floors and restrooms, removing trash, event setup, and coordinating with Custodial Worker II. Some light maintenance and driving of university vehicles may be required.

Position Summary Information

Position Purpose

The incumbent performs routine manual work in the custodial care of the campus buildings and furnishings, including cleaning and clearing of building entrance walkways. This position is considered an essential personnel position.

Description of Duties

• Cleans, waxes and polishes floors, lavatories, commodes and showers, following established methods and procedures using appropriate equipment and cleaning materials.
• Dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork and brass fixtures.
• Replaces light bulbs and make simple repairs to furnishings and equipment.
• Removes trash, shovels snow and sweeps sidewalks at building entrances.
• Moves furniture to clean and to accommodate special furniture arrangements for specific events, as instructed.
• Identifies supplies needed and informs Custodial Worker 2 so that they can be ordered and delivered from central supply.
• Participates in education and training courses as requested.
• Practices safety measures to prevent accidents and injuries and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Locks and unlocks rooms and/or buildings, as necessary.
• Collects trash from trash containers, separates materials for recycling, and removes trash from buildings.
• Informs Custodial Worker II of building, equipment, and furnishings needing repair and/or maintenance.
• Completes Custodial Work orders daily by writing additional duties performed on orders and checking listed items when work has been completed. Completed work orders are to be turned in to Custodial Worker II for transmittal to Custodial Services office weekly.
• May drive University vehicles to assist in moving furniture or supplies and/or run errands, as requested.
