Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools is seeking a Custodian for Briggs Chaney Middle School in Silver Spring to perform building cleaning and grounds maintenance. The position operates 10:00am to 6:30pm, full-time, year-round, with potential overtime during inclement weather.

Responsibilities include cleaning interiors, maintaining grounds, and ensuring a safe, secure environment. Completion of at least ninth grade is required; a high school diploma is preferred. Training is provided on the job.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of the methods, materials and practices of building and grounds work.
• Ability to learn how to properly operate and maintain custodial and grounds care equipment.
• Ability to learn the proper use of approved cleaning supplies and chemicals.
• Ability to monitors building spaces and grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment.
• Must possess a basic knowledge of emergency facility response procedures.
• Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
• Ability to communicate with customers.
• Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the SSPGS.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and grounds maintenance in Briggs Chaney Middle School and surrounding facilities.
