Job summary

Yuma County Sheriff's Office is seeking a custodial supervisor to oversee inmate crews responsible for cleaning and maintaining Sheriff’s Office facilities. The role includes instructing inmates, ensuring use of cleaning tools safely, and transporting crews between sites.

The incumbent will enforce detention security, document incidents, and maintain inventories while supporting timely completion of tasks in a secure jail environment. Flexibility for varied shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; two years custodial/janitorial experience or equivalent
• Must complete forty (40) hours of detention training
• Background check, polygraph, and drug test may be required prior to appointment
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Knowledge of county and sheriff policies, custodial practices, safety, and inventory control

Responsibilities

• Supervise, lead, and train inmate crews in custodial and janitorial duties
• Ensure proper use of custodial equipment and safety procedures
• Transport inmate work crews in department vehicle
• Inspect work areas and enforce security rules and procedures
• Maintain logs, reports, and inventories for supplies and equipment
