Yuma County is seeking a Custodial Supervisor to assist the Custodial Supervisor and lead custodial teams across county buildings. Responsibilities include guiding daily cleaning, maintenance, and delivery duties, and ensuring high service quality under minimal supervision.
The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, four years custodial experience, six months supervisory experience, a valid Arizona driver’s license, and ISSA certification.
This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.
Under minimal supervision, assists the Custodial Supervisor with leadership and guidance of custodial teams to ensure high quality of service is maintained; commutes between multiple County buildings to perform work of routine difficulty in cleaning, custodial, and delivery duties; this position has countywide responsibility.
Illustrative Only Supports daily operations in an environment with high expectations and complex requirements, ensuring consistent service quality with existing resources; leads custodians in sweeping, vacuuming and mopping floors in hallways, stairways and departments/offices; wipes, dusts and polishes furniture and metalwork; assists in providing quality assurance and supervision and performs quality assurance inspections for all areas; assists with coordination and planning of daily activities and continuation of scheduled project work; works with Custodial Supervisor to develop and maintain task schedules and to resolve any problems that might arise; assumes responsibility for daily operation of custodial division in absence of Custodial Supervisor; cleans and polishes woodwork, walls, windows and window blinds; empties recycle bins and trashcans; straightens and arranges desks, chairs, bookcases and other office furniture; cleans, sanitizes and stocks supplies in restrooms; cleans water fountains and wash basins; cleans outside areas and walkways, including removal of trash and other debris; identifies and reports facility repair needs to Custodial Supervisor; maintains inventory of supplies and monitors usage levels and patterns; performs routine equipment maintenance; performs floor maintenance services such as stripping, waxing, buffing, polishing, etc. of various types of hard floor finishes, and shampooing, extracting, etc. on carpeted surfaces; trains staff in the proper techniques and usage of equipment and chemicals; performs minor maintenance repairs including replacing soap, paper towel and toilet paper dispensers, and light bulbs as needed; maintains communication with Custodial Supervisor on daily operations and/or any issues that arise; identifies and reports safety hazards; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.
Requires successful completion of a background check.
Must successfully pass a background check to the satisfaction of the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; generally, the job requires 20% bending, 30% walking, 20% stooping and 30% standing; the job is performed under varying weather conditions and may be exposed to chemical fumes and hazardous materials.
