Job summary

Greater Midland Community Centers Inc. is seeking a Custodial Lead to supervise front-line Technicians, ensure high cleaning standards, and support daily operations. The role acts as a working leader, guiding staff on protocols, safety, and facility readiness.

You will train new hires, perform real-time inspections, and coordinate tasks to maximize efficiency across 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts, including weekends. A strong focus on MIOSHA safety and quality is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; facility management certifications are a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years in custodial or facility maintenance management, preferably multi-unit.
• Experience in custodial/janitorial work or facility maintenance is required.
• Leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example as on-duty leader; ensure cleaning protocols, safety guidelines, and standards are followed.
• Train and coach new team members; maintain consistent procedures and best practices.
• Perform routine inspections and address deficiencies in real time.
• Organize and delegate tasks to custodial staff for shift efficiency.
• Address facility issues; escalate larger problems to Custodial Manager as needed.
• Ensure MIOSHA safety compliance and proper use of supplies and PPE.
• Monitor inventory and restock supplies; report needs to Custodial Manager.
• Ensure readiness for rentals, programs, and events with thorough cleaning.
• Document shift activities, attendance, incidents, and maintenance updates.
• Provide feedback to staff and uphold Greater Midland values.
