Job summary

Woodridge68 is seeking a full-time custodian for the PM shift (3:00 pm–11:30 pm) to keep school facilities safe, attractive, and clean. The role includes routine cleaning, maintenance, and operations support across classrooms, hallways, and grounds.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to read basic instructions, use basic hand tools, and perform snow removal and other duties as assigned by the principal and Buildings and Grounds Director.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Keeps buildings and grounds safe and clean, including sidewalks and driveways.
• Regulates HVAC to maintain appropriate temperatures and conserve energy.
• Checks exit doors; ensures hardware works properly.
• Sweeps, vacuums, and dusts furniture.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms, floors, sanitary fixtures, and drinking fountains daily.
• Washes interior and exterior windows at least twice yearly.
• Maintains school landscape.
• Keeps floors and walls clean and attractive.
• Inspects playground, gym, and sports equipment for safety hazards.
• Cleans entryways and office area windows daily.
• Services motors and equipment requiring periodic maintenance.
• Replaces filters in HVAC units as needed.
• Opens/closes building; secures doors and turns off lights.
• Maintains an inventory of tools and supplies.
• Performs general maintenance and repairs as prescribed.
• Moves furniture or equipment for events.
• Spaces trash/recycling per local rules.
• Inspects lights and electrical outlets and alarm system.
• Monitors building for fire hazards.
• Sets up and breaks down lunchroom as needed.
• Responds to emergency calls.
• Processes work orders and responds to requests.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Performance Responsibilities

• 1. Keeps buildings and grounds, including sidewalks and driveways safe and clean, including snow removal.
• 2. Regulates heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
• 3. Checks daily to insure that all exit doors are easily accessible and all hardware isworking properly.
• 4. Sweeps or vacuums and dusts furniture.
• 5. Cleans and disinfects toilets, floors, sanitary fixtures, and drinking fountains daily.
• 6. Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year.
• 7. Maintains landscape.
• 8. Keeps all floors and walls in a clean and attractive condition.
• 9. Inspects all playground, sports and gym equipment and reports problems immediately to their supervisor or corrects any safety hazards.
• 10. Cleans entryways and office area windows daily.
• 11. Services all motors and other mechanical equipment requiring scheduled maintenance.
• 12. Cleans or replace filters in heating/cooling units as necessary.
• 13. Assumes responsibility for opening and closing the building, securing all doors and windows, and turning off all lights.
• 14. Keeps an inventory of tools, equipment and supplies.
• 15. Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep and repair as prescribed by the principal and Director of Buildings and Grounds.
• 16. Moves furniture or equipment for various activities as required.
• 17. Complies with local ordinances and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash and recyclable items.
• 18. Conducts period inspections of lights and electrical outlets and the alarm system.
• 19. Monitors the building for fire hazards.
• 20. Lunchroomset up and break down.
• 21. Responds foremergency calls.
• 22. Processes and responds to work orders as needed.
• 23. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned.

Working Conditions

12-month position, 8 hours per day. 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm

$20.10 - $21.99per hour dependent upon experience
