Job summary

Sodexo is seeking an Environmental Services / Custodial Operations Manager 2 to oversee the operations and lead a team of housekeepers on the 2nd shift at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham located in Needham, MA.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on safety, compliance, and operational efficiency, directing daily activities for a large frontline team and partnering across departments to ensure clean, healthy, and welcoming environments.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in facilities or related field.
• 2+ years management experience in environmental services or custodial settings.
• Experience leading frontline teams, safety and regulatory compliance.
• Strong communication and resource planning skills.

• Oversee operations and supervise a 29‑member housekeeping team and 2 managers.

Job description

Sodexo is seeking an Environmental Services / Custodial Operations Manager 2 to oversee the operations and lead a team of housekeepers on the 2nd shift at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham located in Needham, MA.

This is a 73 bed hospital and several outer buildings with a team of 29 housekeepers and 2 managers reporting to the General Manager. The shift is approximately 2:30PM – 11PM with 1-2 weekends per month and holiday rotation.

In this hands‑on leadership role, you will oversee frontline teams to deliver exceptional environmental services that prioritize safety, compliance, and efficiency. You’ll manage daily operations, guide team development, and help maintain high standards that create clean, healthy, and welcoming environments.

Accountable for managing people, setting direction and deploying resources; typically is responsible for performance evaluation, pay reviews and hire/fire decisions. Results are primarily achieved through the work of others and typically depend on the manager's ability to influence and negotiate with parts of the organization. Progression within Career Band reflects acquisition of broad technical expertise, business and industry knowledge, and process and people leadership capabilities. Accountable for business, functional or operational areas, processes or programs, which may include dotted‑line or matrixed management.
