Job Summary

Job Summary:

Working as Custodial Manager at SSC, you willbe responsible for the overall cleanliness, sanitation, and security of the assigned buildings of a Higher Ed campus coordinating all work activities of janitorial personnel in accordance with company guidelines to ensure customer satisfaction and the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all aspects of and coordinate all activities of our janitorial personnel, ensuring seamless operations and outstanding service delivery.
• Provide guidance, supervision, and mentorship to supervisors and hourly employees, fostering their professional growth and ensuring adherence to company guidelines.
• Conduct regular inspections, address complaints promptly, and take corrective action tomaintaincleanliness standards.
• Maintain equipment maintenance and inventory of supplies to ensure efficient operations andtimelycompletion of tasks.
• Act as a liaison between building occupants/administrators and janitorial staff, communicatingdirectivesand ensuring alignment with customer expectations and organizational goals.
• Ensure tasks are completed on time and to the highest standards, encouraging a culture of accountability and excellence.
• Cross-trainand develop personnel for multiple roles, increasing versatility and efficiency within the team.
• Monitor and report budgetary issues,demonstratingfiscalresponsibilityand contributing to cost-effective operations.
• Develop operational plans to ensure consistent cleaning standards across residence halls, apartments, dining support areas, common spaces, and administrative offices. .
• Establish performance expectations and hold leadership teams accountable for achieving operational goals.
• Manage emergency response operations during weather events, floods, biohazards, utility failures, and other campus emergencies.
• Coordinate custodial support during student move-in, move-out, summer conferences, camps, and special events.
• Ensure adequate staffing levels while minimizing overtime through effective scheduling.
• Maintain APPA cleanliness standards throughout all Residential Life facilities.
• Serve as the primary liaison between Residential Life leadership and Custodial Services.
• Build strong relationships with Housing administrators, Resident Directors, Facilities Management, and university stakeholders.
• Respond promptly to customer concerns and service requests.
• Promote a strong safety culture through regular training and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

• One to two years as supervisor in housekeeping or service-related field with high customer/client contactrequired.
• Strong work ethic, intense drive, and initiative for quality and customer service.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills both one‑on‑one and in group situations.
• Ability to engage and motivate staff.
• Understandingofbudgeting processes and awareness of profit and loss concepts.
• Excellent administrative and organizational skills andanability to prioritize.
• Ability to work with heavy cleaning equipment.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record, ensuring safe operation of company vehiclesin accordance withtraffic laws and conditions.
• Seven (7) years of progressively responsible custodial or facilities management experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience managing multiple leaders.
• Experience overseeing large-scale custodial operations exceeding one million square feet preferred.
• Experience in higher education, healthcare, hospitality, or large institutional environments strongly preferred.
