The minimum starting pay for this position is $16/hr. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including holidays, weekends, and evenings.

Job Purpose

The Custodial Maintenance Worker ensures the cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of public restrooms across the historic 120-acre Fort Worth Botanic Garden (FWBG). This role supports events by preparing and maintaining the restrooms, assisting with set-ups and breakdowns, and providing routine custodial services to enhance the guest experience and uphold the Garden’s standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Accountability
  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of restrooms in the outdoor event spaces.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, tents, and other equipment.
  • Maintain janitorial and event equipment, ensuring good working condition.
  • Monitor trash bins, ensuring timely collection and disposal.
  • Report safety and inventory needs of outdoor public restrooms.
  • Maintain records of cleaning schedules, event schedules, and supplies used.
People Management/Interactions
  • Collaborate with event team, horticulture team, and contractors for event preparations.
  • Work with facilities staff on maintenance or repair issues.
  • Participate in team initiatives and contribute positively.
  • Train new staff or volunteers as needed.
Communication
  • Communicate with the Event and Janitorial Manager about supplies, repairs, or schedule changes.
  • Report safety hazards, damages, or issues promptly.
  • Provide updates during events for smooth operations.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of janitorial procedures, cleaning products, and equipment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow FWBG policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of safety practices, including PPE use.
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks, lift 50 pounds, and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Basic computer and mobile app skills for communication and reporting.
Additional Job Requirements
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License.
