Job summary

The DM Burr Group is hiring a Full Time Custodial Floater for 2nd shift in Troy, MI. The role involves cleaning multiple school buildings across the district, driving between sites with your own vehicle, and supporting daily facility maintenance.

You will work Monday to Friday, 3:30 pm to 12:00 am, with a $20/hour wage and a $200 hiring bonus after 90 days. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), PTO and holidays.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED or technical certification.
• Must be self-motivated with minimal supervision.
• 0–6 months custodial/janitorial exp with floor equipment.
• Able to lift up to 40 lbs and follow labeling directions.
• Good reading/written comprehension; attention to detail.
• Team-oriented with flexible availability and valid driver's license.
• Own vehicle required to travel between buildings.

Responsibilities

• Clean and care for assigned facilities using approved methods.
• Operate floor scrubbers, buffers, stripping machines and vacuums.
• Sweep, mop, polish floors; clean furniture and fixtures.
• Empty trash and restock restrooms and break rooms.
• Remove stains from rugs, walls and floors as needed.
• Document cleaning functions on logs and report to supervisor.
• Perform light maintenance tasks as required.
• Report major safety items for repair.
• Set up and clean after scheduled events; snow/lawn duties as needed.
• Drive to multiple buildings within a workday.

Primary Responsibilities

• Use approved methods and materials in cleaning and caring for assigned facility.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as; auto floor scrubbers, burnishing buffers, stripping machines and vacuums.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub and polish floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
• Empty trash receptacles.
• May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• General cleaning furniture, window sills, and walls.
• Dust, wash walls, clean ceilings, and polish light fixtures.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas.
• Clean/stock all restroom, janitorial closet and break rooms.
• Record and document all cleaning functions on appropriate logs and report to Supervisor.
• Perform light building maintenance duties as needed.
• Report any major safety item for repair.
• Setting up and cleaning up after scheduled events
• General snow removal/lawn care as needed
• Ability to drive to more than one building in a work day

Position Requirements

• Education: High school diploma, GED or technical school certification
• Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• 0-6 months custodial/ janitorial experience using floor scrubbers, buffers, stripping machines.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Requires the ability to read and follow label instructions on cleaning supplies
• Ability to follow basic verbal & written instructions.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Must have team aptitude and approach.
• Must have valid driver's license and your own vehicle for transportation
