Job summary

Ivy Tech Downtown Indianapolis is seeking a Maintenance Custodial Engineer to keep restrooms, classrooms, hallways, and common areas clean and well-maintained. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Custodial Operations and offers a stable 8:00 AM–4:30 PM schedule.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a valid Indiana driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Prior campus custodial experience and OSHA knowledge are pluses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance as required.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting over 50lbs repetitively.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Experience in academic or state organizations preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, common areas, offices, corridors, lounges, carpets, and hard floor surfaces.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks via the work order system.
• Respond to emergencies such as spills, accidents, and safety concerns promptly.
• Demonstrate strong customer service and support student success.
• Identify and resolve issues quickly and professionally.
• Assist security and ensure proper key control.
