The Custodial Assistant at the Mylan Park Aquatic and Track Center plays a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of the facility. This team member helps maintain a safe, welcoming, and visually appealing environment for guests, athletes, and staff by performing a variety of custodial duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of restrooms, locker rooms, pool decks, track areas, offices, and common areas
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors using manual and power cleaning equipment
- Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables in accordance with facility policies
- Replenish supplies in restrooms, locker rooms, and cleaning stations
- Assist in setting up and breaking down for events, practices, and community functions
- Report maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate supervisor promptly
- Follow established cleaning protocols, including those related to public health and aquatic safety standards
- Assist with light outdoor maintenance, including entrances and walkways, as needed
- Support emergency cleaning needs and assist with weather-related tasks when required
- Maintain cleaning equipment and storage areas in a clean and organized manner
- High school diploma or equivalent (or currently enrolled)
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic understanding of cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience, especially in recreational or aquatic facilities
- Knowledge of OSHA cleaning and safety standards
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Physical Demands- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs Frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching
- Ability to work in humid/wet environments near aquatic areas
- May involve climbing stairs or ladders and operating cleaning machinery
Work Environment- Indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Exposure to cleaning agents and chemical solutions (with provided PPE) Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
