Job summary

Independent School District 196 is hiring a Custodial Aide to support cafeteria and building cleanliness districtwide. The role is 4 hours per day on a 10-month calendar with a 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

shift, starting August 3, 2026. This position reports to the Building Engineer and requires reliable attendance. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and the physical capability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in the cafeteria area during lunch, remove trash, sweep and mop floor, etc.
  • Assist in school recycling program.
  • Pickup trash and sweep throughout the building.
  • Spot clean walls, lockers, and entry glass.
  • Perform duties in a timely, neat and efficient manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and work independently.
  • Must be physically qualified to perform assigned duties including lifting up to 30lbs on a regular basis and display flexibility in cleaning assignments.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, positive manner with staff, students and the public.
  • Must have a desire to work in a cooperative manner and team environment.
  • Must have a good attendance record and be punctual.
  • Must have positive work performance evaluations.Must not have anyrecent disciplinary actions.
  • Must conduct a positive interview and receive a good reference from current and previous supervisors.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred.

Compensation / Benefits:

According to contractual agreement (based on 2026-27 contract)

Custodial Aide: $19.02 Hourly
