Job summary

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) is seeking a part-time Administrative and Leadership support professional for the Custodial Services department. Reporting to the Manager of Custodial Services, you will handle day-to-day operations, prepare reports, manage work orders, and track labor and attendance to ensure smooth departmental functioning.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Custodial Services, this position is responsible for Administrative and Leadership support for the Custodial Department Services day-to-day organizational unit operations. Provides direct administrative support to all Custodial Supervisors.

Time Base

0.5 time-base, 20 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 1 years with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

  • CSU Classification Salary Range (Part-Time, 0.50 FTE): $1,828 – $2,546 per month.

This position is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a variety of administrative and operational support functions within a custodial or facilities environment. They possess the ability to track and monitor SUAM data, generate and distribute reports, coordinate work order requests, and communicate effectively with management and customer service teams. The candidate is experienced in processing departmental purchases, maintaining budget and purchasing records, filing documentation, and accurately entering and tracking employee labor, attendance, overtime, and absences. They are skilled in reviewing and monitoring work orders and projects to ensure compliance with departmental procedures and chargeback requirements.

Additionally, the ideal candidate demonstrates strong coordination and scheduling abilities by preparing weekly event and classroom reports, supporting departmental staffing needs, and communicating essential scheduling information to work crews. They are proactive in managing safety and compliance initiatives, including coordinating quarterly safety training sessions, tracking certifications, maintaining training records, and overseeing fire extinguisher inspection logs and related documentation. The successful candidate is dependable, adaptable, and able to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities while providing comprehensive administrative support and assisting with other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Equivalent to three years of administrative support experience required.

• Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Licenses / Certificates

• Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on University business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.

Physical Summary

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects (10 pounds or less).
