The ideal candidate will have knowledge of standard cleaningtechniques and the care of various surface types, along with theability to safely operate power cleaning equipment and usecustodial systems for work order tracking and communication. Theywill possess strong organizational skills to efficiently managework assignments and maintain custodial storage areas. Experienceworking in a university or other large institutional environment ispreferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellentcustomer service and interpersonal communication skills, with theability to work effectively and respectfully within a diversecampus community. They must be able to read, speak, and understandinstructions appropriate to the position and perform the physicaldemands of the role, including lifting up to 50 pounds and engagingin repeated bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pullingthroughout the workday.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diversecampus community. Ability to follow all university policies,procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety,civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies andprocedures. Valid California driver's license required.
Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or usetheir personal vehicle more than once a month on universitybusiness are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving courseand enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.
Heavy work - Job involves lifting more than 40pounds. Approximately half of the incumbent's time will be spentwalking, standing, squatting, kneeling, or climbing.
CSULB is not a sponsoring agency for staff and management positions(i.e. H-1B Visas).
A background check (including a criminal records check) must becompleted satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSULB willmake a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded ifthe background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or itis discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsifiedinformation. Failure to satisfactorily complete the backgroundcheck may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employeewho was conditionally offered the position.
