Job summary

Salem University LLC is seeking a Custodian to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming campus facilities in Salem, WV. You will perform routine cleaning, sanitation of restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas, while supporting daily operations and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.

The role requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work independently or with Facilities staff. Training on safety procedures and equipment will be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent relevant work experience may be considered.
• Ability to perform routine custodial and cleaning responsibilities.
• Ability to safely use cleaning products, supplies, and equipment following training.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning and custodial services in assigned campus buildings and facilities.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and maintain floors, hallways, stairways, and other designated areas.
• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, conference rooms, lounges and common areas.
• Empty trash and recycling; transport waste to designated disposal locations.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Performdailycleaningandcustodialservicesinassignedcampusbuildingsandfacilities.

Cleanandsanitizeclassrooms,administrativeoffices,conferencerooms,lounges,andcommonareas.

Cleananddis infecthigh-touchsurfaces,includingdoorhandles,railings,desks,tables,andotherfrequentlyusedareas.

Emptytrashandrecyclingcontainersandtransportwastetodesignateddisposallocations.

Dustandcleanfurniture,fixtures,windowsills,andotheraccessiblesurfaces.

Maintaintheappearanceandcleanlinessofentrances,lobbies,andpublicareas.

RestroomCleaning&Sanitation

Clean,disinfect,andmaintainrestroomsthroughoutassignedcampusfacilities.

Sanitizetoilets,sinks,countertops,partitions,fixtures,andotherrestroomsurfaces.

Replenishrestroomsupplies,includingsoap,papertowels,toiletpaper,andothernecessarymaterials.

Monitorrestroomconditionsandrespondtocleaningorsupplyneeds.

Reportplumbingconcerns,damagedfixtures,leaks,andothermaintenanceissues.

Followestablishedsanitationandinfection-preventionpractices.

FloorCare&FacilityAppearance

Maintainfloorsthroughsweeping,mopping,vacuuming,andotherappropriatecleaningmethods.

Assistwithperiodicfloorcare,includingstripping,waxing,buffing,andcarpetcleaningwhentrainedandassigned.

Identifyandreportflooringdamage,spills,andpotentialsliportriphazards.

Maintainassignedareasinaclean,organized,andprofessionalcondition.

Supportseasonalorperiodicdeep-cleaningprojects.

CampusEvents&SpecialCleaningProjects

AssistwithcleaningandpreparationofcampusfacilitiesbeforeandafterUniversityevents.

Supportsetupandbreakdownoftables,chairs,andotherequipmentformeetings,ceremonies,athleticevents,andspecialactivitiesasassigned.

Performadditionalcleaningassociatedwithhigh-trafficeventsorincreasedcampusactivity.

Assistwithclassroom,office,andfacilitytransitionswhenneeded.

Supportspecialcleaningprojectsduringacademicbreaks,summerperiods,andotherscheduledmaintenancewindows.

CleaningSupplies&Equipment

Properlyuse,maintain,andstorecustodialtools,cleaningsupplies,andequipment.

Monitorcleaningsupplylevelsandcommunicatereplenishmentneedstotheappropriatesupervisor.
