Curriculum Writer – High School Statistics 1 & 2 (Curriculum Update)
Two (2) Positions Available

Hours: 20 hours per position (40 total hours across both positions)

Position Summary

We are seeking two Curriculum Writers to collaborate on updating and refreshing existing High School Statistics 1 and Statistics 2 instructional materials. Writers will review current curriculum across both courses for alignment, rigor, and relevance, and make targeted revisions that reflect current standards, data literacy demands, and instructional best practices. Given the breadth of two courses, each writer will contribute 20 hours to ensure thorough and quality revisions across the full Statistics sequence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and audit existing Statistics 1 and Statistics 2 curriculum materials for standards alignment, coherence, and instructional quality
  • Update and revise lesson plans, units, and assessments to reflect current math and statistics standards and best practices
  • Strengthen materials to include more opportunities for data analysis, statistical reasoning, real-world data sets, and evidence-based interpretation
  • Ensure updated content reflects core Statistics 1 topics including data displays, measures of center and spread, probability, and introduction to inference
  • Ensure updated content reflects core Statistics 2 topics including advanced inference, regression, experimental design, and probability distributions
  • Collaborate with the second curriculum writer to divide revision responsibilities across the two courses and maintain consistency in tone, format, and rigor
  • Align revisions to district curriculum frameworks and vertical math and data literacy progressions
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Math Education, or related field
  • Experience teaching or writing curriculum for high school statistics or AP Statistics
  • Strong knowledge of both introductory and advanced statistics content including descriptive statistics, probability, inference, and regression
  • Familiarity with Common Core State Standards for Mathematics, GAISE guidelines, or state math standards
  • Ability to work efficiently within a defined scope and meet project deadlines
Work Parameters
  • Each writer will contribute 20 hours toward a shared 40-hour project scope
  • One writer will focus primarily on Statistics 1 and the other on Statistics 2, with cross-review built into the workflow
  • Writers are expected to coordinate regularly to ensure vertical alignment and consistency across both courses
  • A curriculum audit checklist and revision guidelines will be provided at project kickoff by the supervising director
