Job summary

Fulton County Schools is seeking an experienced curriculum professional to assist teachers in translating requirements, standards, and benchmarks into meaningful experiences for students. The role coaches staff, organizes curriculum, and serves as a trainer for best practices across the district.

The position requires a Master’s Degree and a Georgia Teaching Certificate (P-5) with preference for Reading Specialist certification; at least 3 years of elementary teaching experience is expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of successful elementary teaching experience.
  • Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood (P-5).
  • Reading Specialist certification or Reading Endorsement preferred
  • Completion of the Fulton County Early Literacy Phonics Pathway preferred
  • Knowledge of the District's curriculum goals and training in curriculum development and instruction

Responsibilities

  • Meets with teachers to interpret and help implement the District curriculum
  • Assists all teachers in organizing curriculum and utilizing effective teaching strategies
  • Acts as advisor and special consultant to beginning teachers
  • Administers the initial screening and evaluation of students new to the school to ensure placement at the appropriate instructional level
  • Participates in the selection of instructional materials, supplies, equipment, and textbooks
  • Assists in the planning of workshops and other professional learning programs for teachers, assistants, parents, and volunteers to help raise the level of student achievement
  • Assists the principal in the evaluation of the instructional program, including interpreting assessment results and data analysis to help staff plan for instruction
  • Recommends ways in which the curriculum may be adjusted to meet the special learning needs of students
  • Participates in District-wide activities such as curriculum writing, assessment development, and strategic planning
  • Periodically reviews instructionally‑related state statutes and assists the principal in monitoring local school compliance and improvements
  • Serves as a liaison between the local school and the curriculum department
  • Consults with parents regarding the curriculum and student placement at the request of the principal
  • Assists with the inventorying, ordering, and distribution of textbooks, equipment, and other District‑level instructional resources, as requested by principal
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

  • Proven ability to make recommendations on various topics, detailed, controversial, simple, or complex

  • Ability to develop implement, monitor, and evaluate program goals and initiatives

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
