Job summary

Fulton County Schools seeks an educational leader to serve as the instructional and organizational head of a local elementary, middle, or high school.

The role includes setting the school’s tone, coordinating parent groups, and representing the school to the community while guiding staff and implementing district philosophy and goals.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Education is required.
  • Must hold or be eligible for the Georgia Leadership Certification in Educational Leadership.
  • Minimum 5 years in public school administration and/or supervision plus 3 years as a classroom teacher; classroom level experience preferred.

  • Sets the general tone of the school and leads instructional program.
  • Coordinates parent groups such as PTA and School Advisory Committee.
  • Represents the school to the community at large.
  • Oversees budget planning and expenditures; signs checks and purchase orders.
  • Interviews, supervises, and evaluates school personnel.
  • Maintains student discipline in line with Board policies.
  • Develops five-year projections and evaluates goals and objectives.
  • Oversees facilities maintenance and upkeep.

Summary

Serves as the instructional and organizational leader of the local elementary, middle, or high school



  • Sets the general tone of the school

  • Coordinates parent groups such as P.T.S.A. and the School Advisory Committee

  • Represents the school to the community at large

  • Works with the assistant principal, counselors, and faculty to establish and maintain an educational program consistent with the District’s philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures

  • Prepares budgets for the general school account

  • Approves and supervises all expenditures within the school; signs checks, vouchers, and purchase orders

  • Assumes responsibility for the financial solvency of the school

  • Interviews, recommends employment, supervises, and evaluates all school personnel

  • Establishes rules and regulations for proper student conduct that are consistent with the policies of the Board and maintains student discipline

  • Assess the strengths of the school, identifies the weaknesses, and takes supportive or corrective action as the situation demands

  • Prepares 5-year projections for periodic evaluations, defining goals and redefining objectives commensurate with changes in the school population

  • Oversees maintenance and general upkeep of the school facility and grounds

  • Maintains professional growth through reading, participation in professional organizations and/or activities

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

Master’s Degree in Education


Certification/Licensure

Must hold or be eligible for the appropriate Georgia Leadership Certification in the area of Educational Leadership


Experience Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of successful experience in public school administration and/or supervision plus a minimum of 3 years successful experience as a classroom teacher required; Classroom experience at the same level as posted position preferred

  • Ability to develop implement, monitor, and evaluate program goals and initiatives

  • Ability to exercise strict confidence in handling sensitive information

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
