Job description

Location: In-Office: Near The Woodlands, TX

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Director of Product Development

Works Closely With: Product Development team, Writers, Launch, Marketing, and Operations

Salary: $70,000–$100,000 (based on experience)

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're not asking you to manage a curriculum program. We're asking you to build one from scratch. Right now, Brave Books has one existing curriculum (no longer actively supported). That's it. You're coming in to pioneer an entirely new product line—one that wraps around our mission and becomes a compounding asset for the company. This is a ground-floor opportunity, which means massive upside and massive responsibility. Here's what that actually means: You'll own strategy, content, accreditation, educator relationships, go-to-market, and execution. You won't have a team reporting to you—this is an individual contributor role. But you'll have authority and accountability to build this into something real.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Strategy & Product Definition: Define what "Brave Books curriculum" is and isn't. Scope the initial product line—what curriculum needs align with Brave's mission and values, what grade levels, what subject areas. (These can be standalone products or tie-ins to existing books—your recommendations will influence all final decisions.) Build the business case with unit economics, production timeline, go-to-market strategy, and break-even analysis.
  • Curriculum Design & Development: Establish pedagogical frameworks and learning objectives aligned with state standards (K-12). Work with writers and subject matter experts to produce teacher guides, student materials, assessments, and supplemental resources. Ensure everything is educationally rigorous, age-appropriate, and commercially viable.
  • Standards & Accreditation: Navigate educational standards (Common Core, state-specific standards, etc.) and ensure our curriculum aligns. Manage the accreditation and validation process. Stay current with curriculum trends and requirements.
  • Market & Go-To-Market: Build relationships with schools, homeschool networks, educators, and educational institutions to validate market needs. Develop launch strategy for the first curriculum product—positioning, pricing, channel strategy, sales targets. Work with Marketing and Launch teams to ensure the curriculum offering aligns with the broader Brave ecosystem.
  • Execution & Measurement: Manage timelines and deliverables across Product, Marketing, and Operations teams. Track effectiveness through educator feedback, student outcomes data, sales performance, and renewal rates. Iterate based on market feedback.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
  • Master's Degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Educational Leadership, or equivalent field expertise
  • 5+ years of professional experience in curriculum design, instructional design, or education product development
  • Proven launch experience: You've developed and shipped a new curriculum line or education product
  • Standards fluency: You understand Common Core, state standards, accreditation processes, and educational compliance
  • Project management skills: You can manage complex, cross-functional work from conception to launch
  • Communication across audiences: You explain educational concepts to teachers and business concepts to launch and marketing teams
  • Mission alignment: You believe in faith-based education and values-driven content. This isn't just a job; you care about what Brave Books is building
PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Publishing or children's education background
  • Experience with digital curriculum platforms, LMS, or EdTech tools
  • Relationships in K-12 schools or homeschool networks
  • Experience measuring student outcomes and working with education data
  • Entrepreneurial mindset—you've built products in new or emerging markets
