Job summary

The Pavilion at Bend Park & Recreation District is seeking a Curling Instructor to teach participants the rules and basic skills of curling, connect with members, and contribute to a welcoming community facility. You will plan and lead curling classes, ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, adapt activities for varying abilities, prepare equipment, and document progress for participants and reports.

This is a winter seasonal, part-time position with classes on Fridays from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or currently attending high school.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Some previous work, training/certification or volunteer experience related to position.

Responsibilities

• Instructs participants in curling classes and leads activities ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
• Creates daily plans for classes and activities within established guidelines and curriculum.
• Oversees the safety, comfort and progress of participants.
• Adapts activities as needed to meet the abilities and needs of individuals.
• Prepares equipment, materials and supplies required for conducting activities.
• Sets up, takes down, and cleans-up after class as required.
• Completes required class records, progress reports, certificates, etc.
• Responds to accidents and incidents according to procedures.
• Maintains the cleanliness of facilities and equipment.
• Communicates effectively with the public including providing accurate information related to work assignment and responding to patron and parent questions and concerns.
• Acts as a Mandatory Reporter; reports incidents of child abuse/neglect.
