Job summary

REDCAT (The Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater) in Los Angeles seeks a Curator/Producer to guide select programs and provide comprehensive producing and administrative support for its artistic programming. The role involves planning, coordinating across dance, theater, music, film, and visual arts, and handling artist relations and marketing content.

The position requires strong curatorial instincts, non-profit operations understanding, and excellent English communication.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated passion for contemporary performance, art and media.
• Working understanding of performing arts, museum and/or nonprofit operations.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and discretion with diverse constituencies.
• Excellent English language composition and editing skills.
• Strong planning, organizing and communication skills; proactive and deadline-focused.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, work under general direction and tight deadlines.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work well under pressure.
• Demonstrated computer skills (InDesign, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, HTML, database, CMS software) and Internet/media skills.

Responsibilities

• Curate select performance and exhibition programs for LA artists.
• Coordinate and organize curatorial materials, trailers, notes, checklists.
• Arrange travel, housing, and on-site logistics for artists and guests.
• Coordinate artist relations and communications for senior staff.
• Assist with budget creation and management for program areas.
• Generate artist contracts and program-related agreements.
• Coordinate content from artists for curatorial, marketing, and PR.
• Organize and design printed/electronic programs for shows and events.
• Develop content for programs including photoshoots, videos, and design projects.
• Create and update program-related web pages with regular site maintenance.
• Coordinate design and deployment of marketing materials (print, newsletters, social).
• Respond to inquiries and direct appropriately; track internal/external meeting schedules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
