Job summary

Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa seeks a full-time Open-Rank Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art to lead acquisitions, exhibitions, research, and programming for the growing collection and related initiatives.

Responsibilities include developing ambitious exhibitions, interpreting the collection, supervising interns, managing budgets, and collaborating across departments to support fundraising, education, and public engagement.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in art history or related field; PhD preferred.
• Minimum of two years of curatorial experience for assistant-level position.
• Expertise in modern/contemporary art and knowledge of museum practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop ambitious special exhibitions and traveling exhibitions within budget and audience expectations.
• Collaborate on gallery presentations and interpretive materials.
• Evaluate acquisitions and deaccessions for modern/contemporary art.
• Contribute to cataloging and scholarship related to the collection.
• Advise on long-term care and conservation programs for collections.
• Create innovative programs for diverse audiences.
• Collaborate across departments to support fundraising, learning, and public engagement.
• Develop and manage operating and project budgets.
• Recruit and supervise interns, volunteers, or fellows.
