Summary

The purpose of the Cummins Certified Service Technician is to perform work of considerable difficulty in the diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of Pierce fire apparatus.

Duties And Responsibilities

Responsible for all daily internal service-related interactions, including:

• Enforcing company policies as defined in the SMEG Company Handbook
• Interacting with customers, vendors, and service staff
• Maintaining clean and safe work areas, tools, and proper storage
• Performing vehicle diagnosis, services, and repairs accurately
• Traveling to customer sites to work on fire apparatus
• Maintaining accurate inventory and providing estimates and parts lists
• Participating in quality checks, planning meetings, and reporting
• Upholding policies from SMEG and Pierce Manufacturing manuals

Qualifications

Ability to meet performance goals, willingness to travel, excellent customer service skills, high-quality repair responsibility, and ability to work independently and under pressure. Experience in fire/emergency industry, EVT and Pierce Master Technician status or ability to obtain within a year, Cummins certifications, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are required.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED
• 3-5+ years in heavy-duty diesel service industry
• Certifications including EVT, ASE, Cummins
• Clean driving record and ability to obtain Class B CDL within six months

Physical Demands

Regular sitting, handling, reaching, talking, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and specific vision abilities are required.
