Job description

As an Associate Human-Centered Design Consultant at Gapingvoid Culture Design Group, you are an emerging culture strategist who wants to learn by doing. You will help turn research into insight and insight into experiences, communications, and systems clients can actually use.

Day to day, you will be a connector, maker, organizer, and learner. You will support interviews and workshops, build presentations and cultural artifacts, coordinate projects and live experiences, and make sure important details do not disappear.

This is a hands-on consulting role. You will work alongside Consultants and creatives, contribute to real client work, and build your judgment through practice and feedback. Early success comes from learning quickly, executing reliably, and becoming more independent with every project.

You do not need to know everything on day one. You do need curiosity, follow-through, thoughtful energy, and the instinct to ask, "What needs to happen next?"

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

PROJECT DELIVERY & CLIENT COORDINATION: You will organize timelines, files, materials, decisions, and follow-ups; anticipate roadblocks; and help keep multiple workstreams moving. The goal is not just tidy administration - it is creating the clarity the team needs to do excellent work.

RESEARCH & INSIGHT SUPPORT: You will support surveys, interviews, and discovery activities; organize qualitative and quantitative inputs; and help surface patterns, tensions, and stories that inform client recommendations.

EXPERIENCE DESIGN, FACILITATION & EVENTS:You will help design and deliver workshops, working sessions, offsites, launches, and other client experiences. You will prepare materials, support technology and participant needs, coordinate logistics, capture insight in real time, and learn to read and respond to the room.

PRESENTATION & CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT: You will help turn strategy and insight into polished decks, reports, visual tools, and cultural artifacts. You will work with Consultants and creatives to make complex ideas clear, useful, and memorable.

FROM IDEA TO ACTION: You will help take recommendations beyond the deck by building concrete tools, communications, rituals, and experiences that clients can use. You will learn how strong execution protects the strategy and moves the outcome forward.

BUILDING THE CONSULTING MUSCLE:You will ask thoughtful questions, seek and apply feedback, contribute ideas, and take on increasing ownership. Over time, you will move from supporting the work to independently driving defined pieces of it.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience in human-centered design, research, service or experience design, project or program coordination, strategic communications, consulting, events, or production.
  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience. Internships, fellowships, and early-career roles count.
  • Evidence that you learn quickly, follow through, and produce high-quality work.
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and the ability to keep multiple moving pieces aligned.
  • Clear, empathetic, jargon-free communication and strong writing.
  • Curiosity about people, behavior, design, systems, and storytelling.
  • Good judgment about when to ask for help and when to dig in and figure it out.
  • Adaptability, poise under pressure, emotional intelligence, and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Genuine interest in the mission and complexity of Department of Defense work.
  • Ability to travel 1-2 times per month, up to 30%.
  • An A+ if you have helped produce workshops, offsites, launches, conferences, or other complex experiences. We value people who can see both the strategic purpose and the thousand details required to make it real.

ABOUT GAPINGVOID

We build human operating systems.

Gapingvoid exists to transform how organizations think, feel, and perform - from the inside out. We create Culture as a System (CaaS)™️: a behavioral programming discipline that treats culture like code. It debugs dysfunction, installs belief, and maintains performance - scalably, measurably, and under pressure.

Our team is a mix of culture designers, behavioral scientists, artists, storytellers, anthropologists, and learning strategists - united by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a bias for bold, meaningful change.

We Cut Through BS.

We Design Belief.

We Install Devotion.

Work sits at the bottom of most people's identity stack. Dead last. Beneath family, friends, hobbies - everything else that matters to them. We flip that script. Joining Gapingvoid means stepping into a fast-moving, emotionally intelligent environment where we care audibly, lead with clarity, and build systems that last. It’s intense. It’s meaningful. It’s transformative.
