Job summary

Milwaukee Academy of Science seeks a licensed teacher to join its School Academy. As a classroom educator, you will design and deliver rigorous lessons aligned to district curriculum, using culturally responsive strategies and data to guide instruction.

You will report to the Building Principal and collaborate with families, staff, and district coordinators. First-Year teachers work 198 days; Returning teachers 195 days.

Qualifications

• Wisconsin Teaching Certification required.
• Ability to plan and deliver curriculum using culturally responsive instruction.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learners.
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress.
• Communicate student progress with families and staff.
• Collaborate with families and staff for student improvement.
• Participate on school teams for curriculum development and data analysis.
• Pursue ongoing professional growth opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by principal and administrators.

Responsibilities

• Understand the educational philosophy of the school.
• Plan and deliver curriculum using culturally responsive instructional strategies.
• Differentiate instruction.
• Use formative and summative assessments to inform instruction and monitor student progress.
• Communicate student progress with students, families, district staff members, and building administration.
• Collaboratively plan with families, building/district staff, and administration for student improvement.
• Be aware of and/or participate on School teams for curriculum development, data analysis, staff development planning, selection of materials, and other committees.
• Plan for professional growth through staff development, coursework, and/or other opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal and other administrators
