Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants seeks Cultural Resources Technicians to join our Flagstaff, AZ office for a temporary, hourly, field-based assignment across Arizona.

This six-month engagement involves pedestrian surveys, site recording, artifact identification, and fieldwork under the supervision of experienced staff, with travel possible to local projects.

We value safety, teamwork, and reliable transportation; candidates must be able to carry equipment and work in varied environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 6 months of relevant experience.
• Must have a valid driver's license, pass a Motor Vehicle background screening, and have access to reliable transportation.
• Able to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Available for fieldwork on local projects and for fieldwork requiring extended travel (staying in a hotel up to 10 days).

Responsibilities

• Assist with conducting archaeological fieldwork (pedestrian survey, site recording/data collection, monitoring, excavations).
• Conduct fieldwork for long hours in varied environments (extreme temperatures, inclement weather, rugged terrain).
• Identify historic and prehistoric artifacts and features.
• Assist with cultural resource records searches, laboratory tasks, and other office work as needed.
• Work independently and as part of a field team under supervision.
