Job summary

The Cultural Director at Jena Band of Choctaw Indians Cultural Center in Trout, Louisiana, is a full-time leadership role that advises, directs, supports and manages multiple cultural programs under the Cultural Department, including the museum, archives and education initiatives.

The Director will establish policies, coordinate with THPO and other tribal departments, and oversee budgeting, reporting and community engagement to revitalize tribal lifeways and heritage while ensuring compliance

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required.
• Five years of related experience; substitutions allowed for education.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn tribal heritage and history.

Responsibilities

• Detailed reporting to the Tribal Administrator monthly on all Cultural Department matters.
• Coordinate, plan, and budget for Cultural programs throughout the year.
• Administer the Tribe’s Youth Powwow Dance Program, including scheduling and coordination.
• Serve as a mandatory member of the Powwow Committee and related tribal cultural committees.
• Oversee JBCI Museum, Library, and Research Center; collaborate with THPO on curation and archiving.
