Job summary

Chugach Alaska Corporation in Anchorage seeks a Cultural Program Manager to lead a portfolio of cultural initiatives preserving the region's heritage. You will serve as the first point of contact for cultural programs and collaborate with foundations, communities, and volunteers to implement programs.

Responsibilities include budgeting, reporting, coordinating workshops, events such as Russian New Year Celebration, and maintaining program files.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university or four years equivalent professional level experience.
  • Demonstrated intermediate skills in the use of Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Administers Nuuciq Spirit Camp projects and initiatives; logistics/travel, purchasing supplies and maintaining policies and procedures, staffing.
  • Manages in person and virtual cultural workshops to include marketing, scheduling, procuring instructors, budgeting for and facilitating the event.
  • Manages annual Russian New Year Celebration; solicits donations, coordinates potluck, marketing, securing venue and performers.
  • Develops and maintains budgets and assists with funding opportunities for all programs.
  • Documents program activities, manages the collection of information and prepares reports to meet program reporting requirements.
  • Coordinates grant funding for regional cultural camps; facilitating steering committee meetings, collaborating with regional communities regarding reporting.
  • Maintains complete cultural program files in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Acts as first point of contact for Cultural Program inquiries.

JOB SUMMARY

Working closely with the CHF President & Executive Director, the Cultural Program Manager manages a variety of cultural initiatives and programs designed to perpetuate the Chugach region’s culture and heritage for generations to come. The Cultural Program Manager is the first point of contact for cultural preservation activities for the Foundation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Administers Nuuciq Spirit Camp projects and initiatives; logistics/travel, purchasing supplies and maintaining policies and procedures, staffing.
  • Manages in person and virtual cultural workshops to include marketing, scheduling, procuring instructors, budgeting for and facilitating the event.
  • Manages annual Russian New Year Celebration; solicits donations, coordinates potluck, marketing, securing venue and performers.
  • Develops and maintains budgets and assists with funding opportunities for all programs.
  • Documents program activities, manages the collection of information and prepares reports to meet program reporting requirements.
  • Coordinates grant funding for regional cultural camps; facilitating steering committee meetings, collaborating with regional communities regarding reporting.
  • Maintains complete cultural program files in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Acts as first point of contact for Cultural Program inquiries.
  • Prepares for and takes minutes for committee meetings.
  • Works with a team to prepare quarterly Board meeting reports.
  • Attends and presents at the Foundation’s quarterly Board of Trustee meetings.
  • Researches and gathers information for reporting on trends and new initiatives.
  • Coordinates and partners with Community Value Centers (CVCs) Shared Services, regional entities, and other cultural organizations.
  • Develops relationships with cultural experts in the region.
  • Recommends program improvements or expansions.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Chugach Alaska Corporation (CAC) shareholder or descendant of a CAC shareholder.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university or four years equivalent professional level experience.
  • Demonstrated intermediate skills in the use of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Knowledge Of:

administrative procedures, policies and practices, operation of common office machinery including copiers, fax machines, and computers. Demonstrated knowledge of the Chugach Alaska Native communities, regional organizations, and Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) corporations. Knowledge of the culture of the Chugach region as well as relevant federal laws pertaining to the relationship between Alaska Natives and the federal government.
