Job summary

Pechanga Tribal Government seeks a Cultural Activity Assistant to help develop culturally appropriate activities for school-aged children, collaborating with TANF, the Cultural Resources Department, and school staff to promote Luiseño culture and educational goals.

The role involves teaching Luiseño culture topics, organizing after-school and summer programs, tracking participation, and supporting curriculum development.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of Luiseño culture, history and tradition preferred.
• Experience with native cultures preferred.
• Experience in Luiseño language preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License, proof of insurance and personal vehicle to use for work required.
• Certified in Child/Infant CPR within 90 days of employment.
• This position must comply with the Pechanga Tribal Government’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy, including pre-employment and random testing.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Develop activities and programs that promote Luiseño culture and traditions.
• Teach Luiseño culture topics including plants, pottery, foods, seasons and place names.
• Lead after school and summer cultural activities for TANF-eligible youth and families.
• Verify eligibility for TANF services and maintain attendance records.
• Assist with curriculum development and staff collaboration on cultural activities.
• Engage with tribal youth on culturally related projects.
• Learn or use Luiseño language when interacting with students.
• Contribute to teacher reference materials on cultural information.
• Support outreach between Cultural Resources, Pechanga School and TANF.
