Job summary

PA Options for Wellness seeks a Cultivation Supervisor to oversee daily operations in the cultivation wing and lead a team to meet yield, quality, and safety KPIs. You will ensure adherence to SOPs, regulatory standards, and safety training while coordinating plant care, harvesting, and IPM activities.

The role requires 3+ years in cannabis cultivation, 2+ years of leadership, and a PA pesticide license (or willingness to obtain within 90 days).

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Cannabis Cultivation or related field.
  • 2+ years of Leadership Experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education / certifications in related field preferred.
  • Possess a Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator's License or willing to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and problem solving.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in a timely fashion.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including listening, negotiation, and conflict management.
  • Strong written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment that is always changing.
  • Demonstrated proper safety protocols and trainings related to OSHA.
  • Demonstrated experience leading/mentoring a team and maintaining positive moral.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day functions in the Cultivation Wing of Vytal Options.
  • Oversee a team of individuals, ensuring all processes, training requirements, schedules, protocols, policies, and procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for plant care, training staff, and maintaining processes to Vytal’s standards.
  • Lead/direct teams of individuals in topping, skirting, defoliating, harvesting processes.
  • Responsible for data entry, payroll, and organization of documents.
  • Responsible for mixing fertilizer and maintaining a proper growing environment for optimal plant health.
  • Understand and monitor our Controls system.
  • Maintain and update SOPs as needed with Cultivation leadership.
  • Maintain and keep up-to-date logs for any Preventative Maintenance done on equipment.
  • Maintain irrigation equipment and ensuring proper irrigation strategies are being implemented.
  • Support cultivation operations, as needed, including pruning, transplanting/moving plants, harvesting, cloning, cleaning, by maintaining proficiency in all basic cultivation tasks/responsibilities.
  • Assist with IPM (Integrated Pest Management) duties as needed.
  • Demonstrate regular and on-time attendance to all scheduled shifts.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Under guidance and leadership of the Cultivation Manager, the Cultivation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the cultivation hallway including Propagation, Cultivation, Harvest, Integrated Pest Management, Irrigation, and Fertigation teams. This role ensures optimal plant health, production efficiency, and compliance with all regulatory and safety standards. The Cultivation Supervisor is accountable for meeting Key Performance Indicators related to yield, quality, and safety while maintaining strict adherence to regulations and Standard Operating Procedures. In addition to operational oversight, this position provides leadership to direct reports through training, development, and coaching, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.

Work Conditions
This is a labor-intensive position, working in a greenhouse and manufacturing environment. This position is in an environment that frequently has a strong cannabis odor. This position will frequently be in-contact with cannabis in its vegetative, flowering, harvested, and cured phases. This position requires frequent direct contact with the cannabis plant before it is cured and contact post-cure. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:
  • Sit, Walk, Stand, Crouch, Stoop, Bend, Reach, and Lift for extended periods of time
  • Hold arms above head for extended periods of time to trim plants, hang trellis, and remove leaves
  • Use hands and fingers to operate, handle, and/or feel objects, tools, and/or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Scrub tables, floors, and other surfaces with brushes during remediation
  • Operate light machinery including power washers, foam sprayers, and other remediation toolsOccasionally operate a forklift per standard operating procedure and supervisor direction
  • Will be required to wear varying degrees of personal protective equipment for specific tasks (some tasks require partial PPE; some will require full PPE)
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to work in rooms with temperatures averaging 60 – 82 degrees with elevated humidity levels (45%-70%) and intense bright lights as well as areas with higher-than-average CO2 levels. Must be able to work in the dark or altered colored lighting utilizing green UV headlamps.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and leadership through talking and hearing
  • The work environment may include exposure to fumes, dust, odors, heights, temperatures, motion, and moderate-to-loud noises
