Job summary

Essential Employment Services, Inc. is seeking a Cultivation Technician for our New Jersey cannabis facility. You will perform daily plant care, including watering, pruning, harvesting, and monitoring environmental conditions to ensure healthy growth.

No experience required; we value attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work in a secure, regulatory environment while maintaining accurate records. The position is full-time and on-site.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing, bending, and lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate records and inventory management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve plant health issues effectively.
  • Willingness to work in compliance with strict security and regulatory requirements.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular tasks to maintain health and vitality of cannabis plants, including watering, pruning, harvesting, and transplanting.
  • Monitor and adjust environmental conditions to optimize plant growth and yield.
  • Execute plant nutrition feeding schedules and pest/disease control practices.
  • Operate and maintain cultivation equipment (irrigation, lighting, environmental control, nutrient mixing).
  • Maintain accurate records of cultivation activities (inventory, nutrient applications, environment).
  • Maintain facility cleanliness, organization, and sanitation per regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and troubleshoot plant health issues, pests, and diseases with corrective actions.
  • Comply with state/local cannabis regulations and security protocols.

What You'll Do

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Cultivation Technician for our cannabis cultivation facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day cultivation activities to ensure the growth and development of high-quality cannabis plants. The ideal candidate should possess excellent attention to detail, and have a passion for producing superior cannabis products. No experience is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform regular tasks to maintain the health and vitality of cannabis plants, including watering, pruning, harvesting, and transplanting.
  • Monitor and adjust environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, lighting, and CO2 levels to optimize plant growth and yield.
  • Execute plant nutrition feeding schedules according to established guidelines and ensure proper pest and disease control practices are implemented.
  • Operate and maintain cultivation equipment such as irrigation systems, lighting systems, environmental control systems, and nutrient mixing stations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all cultivation activities, including plant inventory, nutrient applications, and environmental conditions.
  • Assist with monitoring and maintaining the facility’s cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and troubleshoot plant health issues, pests, and diseases, applying appropriate corrective measures.
  • Comply with all state and local regulations regarding cannabis cultivation, ensuring compliance with security protocols, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
Education & Qualifications

Physical Requirements
  • Must have the ability to push, pull, or lift a minimum of 50 pounds if relevant to job duties listed above.
  • Must be capable of sitting, squatting, standing, kneeling, bending, or walking throughout the workday.
  • Must be capable of working in front of a computer for extended periods of time based on job duties listed above.
  • Ability to safely use ladders and step stools to perform job duties.
Exposure to fertilizer, dusts, odors, high heat, low temperature, high and low humidity, high noise levels, vibrations, water, dry salts, allergens, pollen, dust, plant pathogens, other volatile organic compounds, and other environmental variables.
