Job summary

Arete Living is seeking a Culinary Services Director for our Washington Gardens Memory Care community in Tigard, Oregon. You will oversee all dining operations, manage kitchen staff, plan menus, control budgets, and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.

The role requires 3+ years of foodservice management, preferably in senior living or healthcare. Certification in CDM preferred; strong leadership, budgeting, and dining software experience are essential; CPR/BLS and HIPAA knowledge are

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in foodservice operations management in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality.
• Degree in hospitality management, culinary arts, or business management preferred.
• CDM certification preferred.
• Strong leadership, budgeting and Microsoft Office proficiency; POS experience.
• Ability to manage high-volume production and complex scheduling.
• Knowledge of senior nutrition, therapeutic diets, and food safety standards.
• Food safety certification and Food Handler State Card required.

Responsibilities

• Develop rotating menus balancing resident preferences with nutrition; adapt recipes for modified diets and allergies.
• Manage budgets for food, supply, and labor; oversee inventory and vendor relations.
• Oversee daily culinary operations including hiring, training, supervising staff.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation, health codes, HACCP across facilities.
• Recruit, train, supervise staff; conduct performance reviews and schedules.
• Oversee food production, dining room operations, resident meal delivery; ensure efficiency.
• Maintain relationships with residents, families; coordinate events and catering.
• On-call staffing after hours and weekends as needed.
• Serve as contact for staff, residents, external vendors on culinary issues.
