J.C. Newman Cigar Co. in Tampa is expanding its hospitality offerings and seeks a Sous Chef to build a new culinary program across Elaine's, Stanford's Cigar Club, and The Inn at El Reloj.

You will lead daily kitchen operations, mentor staff, and shape guest dining experiences in a landmark historic property. This role requires at least 2 years of leadership in kitchens, strong organization and communication, and a passion for hospitality.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of culinary leadership or kitchen management experience.
• Knowledge of food allergies, safe food handling, and health standards.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor and develop kitchen staff.
• Basic computer skills including Word and Excel.
• Food Handler Card preferred.
• Culinary school education is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Oversee daily kitchen operations across restaurant service, room service, private events, and inn amenities.
• Lead by example to ensure consistency, sanitation, and operational excellence.
• Conduct standardized line checks for freshness and proper prep.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen meeting safety standards.
• Collaborate with front-of-house leadership for smooth service and teamwork.
• Assist with scheduling, labor management, and daily workflow.
• Support menu development and seasonal offerings; mentor kitchen staff.
