Job summary

Roof Above seeks a Culinary Lead to manage day-to-day kitchen operations, coach team members, and work alongside the Kitchen Manager. You will oversee back-of-house activities, assist with purchasing, receiving, and presenting food according to recipes while fostering a positive environment for guests, staff and volunteers.

Required is a high school diploma or GED with 2+ years in hospitality or human services, knowledge of kitchen safety, and Serv-Safe certification or ability to obtain within

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required with 2+ years in hospitality, food services, or human services.
  • Experience with homeless populations and shelter settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment, safe food handling, and transit practices.
  • Current Serv-Safe Manager Certification or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee back-of-house production and food preparation per recipes and procedures.
  • Enforce cleanliness, safety, and health guidelines; supervise staff performance.
  • Coach and develop hourly staff; provide daily feedback and evaluations.
  • Assist with purchasing, receiving, inventory, and cost control of food.
  • Support donor/volunteer activities and create a welcoming campus environment.
