Colorado Mountain College seeks a Culinary Lab Assistant II to support culinary lab operations with advanced responsibilities, including maintaining equipment and organizing materials. This part-time position allows for up to 28 hours per week, with a pay rate of $25.78 per hour.
Applicants should have an Associate’s degree or equivalent culinary experience. Knowledge of kitchen safety practices and proficiency in Microsoft Office are preferred.
Under the direction of the Lead Culinary Faculty and Assistant Dean of Instruction, the Culinary Lab Assistant II supports the operations of the culinary labs with advanced responsibilities. These include organizing materials for instruction, inventorying supplies, maintaining and repairing equipment, and events.
An hourly time sheet is required. Schedules will be arranged on a weekly basis with the lead faculty and will change according to the needs of the programs.
This is a part‑time position limited to 28 hours per CMC’s workweek (Saturday through Friday).
Education and experience sufficient for the needs of the position. Examples may include an Associate’s degree and one year of related work experience in a culinary setting or a High School/GED and three years related work experience in a culinary setting or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position.
Strong interest or experience in culinary arts, advanced cooking techniques, kitchen safety practices, and supervisory skills are preferred.
Knowledge of a variety of standard administrative and business methods and procedures; standard Microsoft Office software, and familiarity with other automated systems software.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well; operate variety of office equipment; proficient in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets and electronic mail; multi‑task; meet deadlines; strong verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.

The hiring pay rate is $25.78 per hour. Benefits include retirement contribution, annual and sick time, mental health resources, and tuition benefit. CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidate’s skill and experience. Although a hiring rate is listed, this will be set commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
Essential Duties
This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling of objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
